Vilamoura Golf

Vilamoura Golf in Vilamoura is Europe’s largest private tourist project with 5 golf courses. Visitors can book 4 of the courses — the Old Course, Pinhal, Millennium, and Laguna, each with its own character. These courses offer value, variety and challenge for all levels of golfer. The 5th course, the Victoria course, closed in 2024 for renovations and redesign by Erie Els and is expected reopen for Summer 2025 as a private members club, to be renamed Els Club Vilamoura. The golf courses are located 20 minutes from Faro airport. Each golf course has its own clubhouse, except for Laguna and Millennium, which share a clubhouse.

Old Course

Vilamoura Old Course was inaugurated in 1969. It is laid over and around gentle sloping hills with tree lined fairways, and poses quite a stern test. Host to the Portuguese Open (1970, 1979,) a golfer playing well will find it delightful.

Millennium Course

The Millennium Course opened in 2000, hence its name . Designed by Martin Hawtree, the Millennium course is a most attractive and interesting layout. The setting of this course within the surrounding countryside is truly astounding, and encompasses wooded areas and lakes.

Pinhal Course

The par 72 Pinhal Course opened in 1976. The front nine winds through umbrella pines while the back nine is more open with sea views. Not quite as severe as Vilamoura Old Course, the average golfer will find this course more forgiving.

Laguna Course

Laguna Course is set amongst dunes and water hazards which come into play on more than half the holes, so there is much trouble off the tee for a miss-hit shot. Accuracy is needed here as this is a real test of golfing skill.
