PGA Aroeira 1 

Designed by Frank Pennink and opened in 1973, PGA Aroeira 1 (formerly the Pines Classic) was affectionately christened the ‘Wentworth of Lisbon’ by the UK press and it is easy to see why. Played through tall avenues of pine forest and surrounded by wildlife and nature, the golf course plays to 6,650 yards and demands accuracy and placement off the tee in order to maximise opportunities to hit the target greens in regulation.

PGA Aroeira 1 underwent significant improvements to the golf course during four and a half months in 2024, with an investment of 3 million euros. A modern irrigation system was added, as well as enhancements to the bunkers and landscaping to reduce water usage and enhance the natural beauty of the course.

PGA Aroeira 2

Opened in 2000, designed by Donald Steel and built to exacting European Tour recommendations, PGA Aroeira 2 (formerly the Challenge Course) compliments its older sister well. Visitors will enjoy the distinct tranquil and serene Aroeira environment but will discover a course that possesses a few more thrills and spills along the way. At more than 7,000 yards from the back tees, PGA Aroeira 2 bares its teeth with water in play on no fewer than nine holes and large, undulating greens testing the putter to the maximum.

PGA Aroeira 2 will undergo a similar enhancement to its sister course during the summer of 2025, and will be closed during this time.
