Porto Santo Golfe is an 18-hole par 72 golf course, which opened in 2004 and was designed by Seve Ballesteros. Located on the island of Porto Santo in the Madeira archipelago, this scenic course crosses the island, offering all levels of players a challenging game in a landscape of dunes, lakes, and stunning and dramatic basalt cliffs.
The course has two distinct areas in its more than 6400 square meters: to the south, the course has a traditionally American feel, where the player meets several lakes, which require a long and precise game; to the north, the course is distinctively marked by volcanic cliffs.
Practice facilities include a 9-hole par 3 pitch and putt and an attractive driving range. The Club House houses a restaurant, bar, billiard room, living room, pro-shop, and large terraces overlooking the golf course and the sea.
Highlights
• As with all of Seve's designs, the course has 6 par 3 holes, 6 par 4 holes and 6 par 5 holes.
• Every hole is unique, designed with great care and golf knowledge, and there is always a well-placed bunker for those who drive from the championship tees.
• The so-called "Amen corner" (the 13th, 14th and 15th holes) requires accurate precision for any golfer. These holes have a tremendous view.
The 18th hole completes the courses with an exceptional hole — a par 5 with a large lake defending the green and with an S-shaped-bunker.
